We've all seen a red velvet cupcake before. I don't suppose that this is the "unicorn" of cupcake sightings for you. But hey, this is my absolute favorite cupcake in Los Angeles, and that says something. The cake portion is dense and moist; the slick layer of cream cheese frosting is neither over- or under-done; and the granules of red sugar crystals on top provide the perfect amount of added texture. It's not an oversized cupcake and one will sate your sweet tooth, but get a few ($2.25 a pop) just to be sure.
