It looks like a nothing special lemon bar. It doesn’t excite the eyes. It doesn’t seem worthy of the indulgence. And it certainly doesn’t seem like “the thing” to order from the Joan’s on Third’s bakery counter. But this nothing special lemon bar is something truly extraordinary. With its ample top coat of powdered sugar, buttery cookie crust and perfectly balanced tart and sweet ooey gooey center, it is the best thing to happen to the lemon since lemonade.
