Everyday for 3 years I had to pass this Polish bakery in my neighborhood of Greenpoint, whose deliriously inviting smells would greet you from a block away. With much will and determination, I would try to emerge from the trip empty-handed; however, the reality was I had become obsessed with this poppy seed roll. It only took one try and that was it. Completely. Addicted. The dense filling of sweet poppy seeds surrounded by soft, fresh baked challah-like dough is unbelievable. And for only $2.50, the roll would last a few days until my next visit. I have yet to find anything that compares!
